Family

Whether we like to admit or not we have all had a family even if it was for a day a month a lifetime. They can infuriate you, drive you crazy. You could kill them sometimes but kill for them any time. Some people have huge families with hundreds of cousins and loads of uncles and aunties. I have quite a small family. In my family there is the usual family sterotypes annoying relatives, relatives who live abroad, relatives you never see, relatives you communicate with through xmas cards. My 'family' consits of my Mum and Dad and Josh who is so close in age to me we might as well be best friends. It is hard to know that in the future we will all be in different parts of the world. With me an my dream of being an aidworker teaching, Joshs's dream of going in the armed forces and my parents dream of living by the sea. This was taken a few years ago but you can tell how close we all are. It is going to be hard when we all go our seperate ways. Whatever happens though I know they will always be there for me wherever or whatever I do.

What ever happens don't lose your family. They have known you longer than you have known yourself.

Summer's Started...

Summer has started exams are finally over and yet it is still not hot here in London. I've become quite addicted to Wimbeldon. I love to watch it on the TV and as Wimbeldon is close by you really do feel like a part of it. Exams are finally over I had 14 in the space of a month and a bit I don't think I have ever been so stressed and emotionally and physically drained. Summer is a time to be stressfree and care-free, to see the art museums like my favourite the National Gallery by Trafalgar Square. I have also got two new rabbits called Pebbles and Squirrel they are so adorable. I love to play with and feed them dandelion leaves which they can't get enough of.
This is Pebbles he is a Lionhead rabbit, he is 10 months and love to explore and eat grass in the garden (he might as well be a lawnmower).

Travel...

Many people dream to travel to get away from the concrete prisons of their neighbourhood. This is what many people dream of doing every night. When you have had a bad day from many people myself inclding nothing helps more than watching a documentary about the Savannah or trekking through the Amazon rainforest. If you look around there are many beautiful places where you live where you know it or not. One of may favourite places in London is walking along South Bank outside the National Theatre. It was a summer night after seeing the most amazing play I have even seen 'War Horse' if you have not seen it GO SEE IT!! Yet another play is the skate park along south bank the colour of the graffiti is what London is all about. London may seem as a scary place but on a summer nights walking along the thames I can think no better place in the world.

In the summer there can be markets or entertainers it very is awesome!

Some people do really amazing tricks it is nice just to soak up the atmosphere.

If you ever have a chance to go to London check this place out. The river you can see so many famous landmarks along one strech or it including the Globe Theatre (shakespeares Globe) and The London Eye.

A True English Love Story...

My ancestors are Romany Gypsies. My people may have preconceived ideas about gypsies but many of them are based on prejudice and ignorance. My ancestor was a young English woman who fell in love with a traveller. Her family disowned her and she never saw them again. Marrying a non-gypsy would have been frowned upon in the gypsy community so it was a miracle they didn’t disown their son. She travelled around with her new husband with the fair. They worked on the coconut shy, happy and in love.  She never spoke to her parents after she left. The couple had a child she was born in one of the beautiful ornate caravans. There are no pictures of the family as gypsies did not have photographs nor had many possessions. I see that ancestor ,from so many generations, a true model. She ran away with the man she loved even though it meant losing the love and respect of her family.  This is a true love story what makes it even more beautiful is that it is real. Love really did conquer all. Whenever I remember the story it is all most as if I am reading it from a Nicolas Sparks novel. It is a very rare story and unique story and one that I will always treasure.

The caravan probably would have looked a lot like this...

Return from Lourdes (South France)

Lourdes is a beautiful timeless place. Beyond all the tacky souvenir shops you see that it is a meeting place of believers from all over the world. Most people came from Italy, Germany, Spain and other parts of France. The coach trip was very long but it was well worth it the weather was amazing. We particapited in the Palm Sunday mass with over 15,000 people I was sure I was going to fall over at some point but by some miracle I didn't.

Glowing Virgin Mary's some of the random stuff you can find in Lourdes.

The truely magical Torchlight Procession that happens every night they all start filling up the square. It ends about 11.30 but it is really worth watching. One night we were watching and another night we were in it.

Amazing ice cream shop the range of flavours was incredible. My favourite's had to be Snickers, Kinder, Nutella and Mint with choc chips.

There was a huge hill with the sations of the cross it was a wonderful reminder on the lead up to Easter. In the photo you see people kneeling this is because to make you way up the steps you kneel. on every step you say a 'Hail Mary'. People found it hard to get up afterwards.

This was a station on the route and depites the crucifixion on Jesus what makes it even more amazing is the fact that the figures are life sized.

This is me filling up holy water from the taps during the day it is so busy. We went around midnight to see the grotto to get the right atmosphere reflective and peaceful not a place to be a tourist.

The churches are absolutley beautiful and stunning.

If you ever have a chance to go to Lourdes go! Although I am not Catholic I left Lourdes with a sense of self-satisfaction and at peace with myself it was a very humbling feeling. I have never been to a place like Lourdes and a doubt I will.

Tomorrow I will be going to Lourdes in France it is quite near the Spainish border. The coach trip is a minimum of 12 hours...should be interesting. 32 teenagers in a confined space with 4 teachers over night. I can't wait to see the sights it should be an eperience I will never forget. I will post pictures from my travels when I get back on Wednesday.

Here is a picture of Lourdes it kind of looks like Disneyland!

A plee to music lovers...

I love music. I listen to music constantly from when I wake up to end between lessons and in my room and wherever else! Most of my friends like the chart music but I think some of the best music is from unknown bands and singers. I love finding new bands from whatever genre so if you know a really good band I would really appreciate if you would comment as tell me.

Obsession with adverts

Everyone hates adverts if they don't make money out of them. You get to the climax of a show and then pops up that really annyoing sponsor advert which you know will be followed by five cheesy ads on cleaning products. It just drives me and people I know insane. There is always and exception for the rule. The one advert which does not drive me completly insane is the Cravendale - Cats with Thumbs ad. I know you have to be sad but it is pretty funny. What other ads can you think of which don't make you want to hit your head against a wall?
The only good adverts come from Cravendale!

Who ever said 'High school are the best years of you life' was seriously mistaken!

Who ever said 'High school are the best years of you life' was seriously mistaken. High School is not a place to be yourself it is a place to conform to the way the school percive what a good teenager is. In England not being able to wear your own clothes does not exactly help you to express yourself. I do not have an issue with uniform and why we wear it but I do have an issue with not being able to accessorise. Some of the rules are ridiculous how does wearing clear nail varnish effect your education. Some people might give in to their rules but some rebel in small ways by; wearing braclets or painting one nail or even just rolling up their blazer sleeves. I am so relieved that I only have a couple more months left at school. At school they teach you what you need to know for exams I am the kind of person who wants to learn about what I am interessted in. When I go to College/Sixth Form it will be much easier for me to do that and I am really looking forward to it. The days are starts to be sunnier for longer and it feels like a new start. It may be the end of an era but I am looking forward to the future!
